South West Mayo Development Company, in association with Mayo County
Council (Community and Integrated Development), is recruiting a
COMMUNITY FUTURES CO-ORDINATOR Mayo Community Futures is a bottom up,
community led process which allows all members of the community
opportunities to feed into a Community Action Plan for their area. The
Community Futures Co-ordinator leads, promotes and supports all
aspects of the Mayo Community Futures programme with the community.
The Co-ordinator works with communities entering the process as that
is used above, provides training with the process, supervises the
establishment of local community-led Steering Groups and assists in
producing their 5-year Action Plans. He/she is responsible for staff
management, programme management and volunteer mentoring. ?The
successful candidate must have: A good knowledge of community
structures and governance Work experience with communities and in
community development Good time management and facilitation skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and able to work on
their own initiative Excellent report-writing and ICT skills A third
level quali? cation in Social Science, Youth Work, Community Work,
Rural Development, Marketing, Communications, Planning or equivalent
is desirable The successful candidate must have a full, clean license
and access to a car.
This position is seasonal, 3 days per week for eight months each year.
